DVBBS team up with fellow Canadian and alternative sensation Powfu for their new track “Losing Sleep,” which sees the duo experimenting with a masterful blend of alt-punk and electronic music. Opening with mellow instrumental melodies, Powfu’s heartfelt vocals shine through as “Losing Sleep” laments on a lost lover. DVBBS’s influence comes in soft basslines during the culmination of the track, which is guaranteed to pull at any listener’s heartstrings. Powfu has been riding the wave of his TikTok popularity from “death bed (coffee for your head)” song, which got him signed to Columbia Records and just surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify alone. “Losing Sleep” is the latest from DVBBS’s forthcoming album “SLEEP” and follows their recent “Lose My Mind,” for which they sampled Yebba, and “Fool For Ya” – a dancefloor filler, which announced the forthcoming LP.

“‘Losing Sleep‘ is the definition of fresh, we’re excited to share this one.” – DVBBS

“‘Losing Sleep‘ is an acoustic idea I wrote a few years ago and posted on my IG. It’s really cool to see DVBBS take it to the next level” – Powfu

BLVD. teamed up with Shaquille O’Neal, aka DJ Diesel, for the new single “Posterize.” Listeners, be warned – with its heavy-hitting synths, distorted vocals, and bone-shaking basslines, this track is hardly for the faint of heart. It’s the ultimate hype song for the gym or your next headbanging session, combining BLVD.‘s raw trap/dubstep style with Shaq‘s penchant for hard, bass-driven beats. The single marks O’Neal‘s debut on Purple Fly, the label that supports collaborations of all forms of art, connecting music and visuals for an immersive experience that spans the sonic realms of trance to trap.

“Posterize” is Shaq‘s first single of 2021 and follows the 15 x NBA All-Star and 4 x NBA Champion’s 2020’s “SHUTUP” with Wuki, “Tear Up” with Eliminate, and “Ultimate” with Riot Ten. Shaquille O’Neal‘s 1993 rap album, “Shaq Diesel,” did the unthinkable of selling over a million copies and peaked at no. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart cementing O’Neal as the only athlete ever with a platinum-selling album. Today, DJ Diesel has grown into one of the biggest touring artists in the world, headlining festivals and clubs around the world such as Tomorrowland, Lost Lands, and running his own festival series – “Shaq’s Fun House” and “The Shaq Bowl.“

If you’ve ever looked for the perfect song to define the feeling of cruising your favorite city right before a night out on the town, look no further than R3HAB‘s new single “Downtown” which he made in collaboration with Kelvin Jones. Taking a break from the sounds of traditional electronic music, R3HAB cultivates the ultimate cool-kid vibe on “Downtown” with a deep, minimal bassline. The nonchalant and yet groovy mood is complemented by Kelvin’s soulful vocals, which paint a complete picture of being whisked into a night of luxury amid the big city lights. “Downtown” follows R3HAB’s recent big collaboration “Pues” with Luis Fonsi and Sean Paul, which saw the Dutch/Moroccan artist exploring with Latin and R&B influences. Check out what Kelvin and R3HAB have to say about their new track below:

“‘Downtown‘ is a club-inspired record with a bouncy beat drop and a pulsing bassline that support powerful vocals from Kelvin Jones. We wanted to capture the magic of the perfect night in the city. You’re with your friends, the club’s bass is beating through your blood, your legs are sore from dancing all night, you feel invincible.” – R3HAB

“‘Downtown‘ is a mood in a song! We imagined how it would feel to be in New York cruising downtown in a Cadillac and what song you’d want to hear. This inspired the whole song. In an era where every song is overloaded with things going on, we decided to go against that and keep it as minimal and laid back as we could whilst still keeping the groove going.” – Kelvin Jones

Kush Kush are used to spending time away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday life – after all, the mysterious producers with the rabbit masks prefer to bury themselves deep in their rabbit hole to cook up urban club tracks. But even the best club tracks are nothing without an actual club to dance to them, and so just like the rest of us, Kush Kush started to really miss all the “Little Things” that make our everyday life so worth the wile. The resulting track is an ode to that feeling and introduces up-and-coming British-Canadian singer-songwriter Phrazer on his first official single release. Pitching down Phrazer’s voice to the overall downbeat vibe of the song, Kush Kush craft an ambient production highlighted by smooth drops, a funky bass line and sentimental melodies.

“I used to picture love out of a magazine, But that was the old me” told Phrazer recalls a time when he thought life and love was something happening in the virtual realm. That’s until he has a life-changing encounter in the real world: “When I laid my eyes on you / Saw the other point of view / Things I used to see right through,” he sings, realizing that all the material values such as a big house, a fast car, and sapphire rings don’t matter anymore: “It’s the little things / You got the little things.”

“Since we were severely restricted by Corona Virus, like all of us, we realized just how important the most normal and smallest things can be,” Kush Kush share. “For us, this includes seeing our loved ones or simply sitting down in a café. That was one of the inspirations for the song – reflecting on how well we were doing and that life is not always about the big things. With this song, we want to do contribute our small share in finding back to normalcy.”

Having already garnered more than 35 million Spotify streams on ‘Kind of Love’, their first collaboration together, award-winning producers Rat City and Isak Heim have proven to be a strong team when it comes to creating catchy pop songs. They now return with summer banger ‘Rather Be’. Out on all platforms Friday June 4th.

The track was created last summer, but there’s no negative vibes from the pandemic here. It all started on a zoom session with the Canada-based songwriter Faouzia (John Legend, David Guetta, Kelly Clarkson etc.), followed by several online sessions with the songwriter Autumn Rowe (Dua Lipa, Ava Max, Pitbull, Leona Lewis etc.) before Isak Heim added the final touches and a killer lead vocal. This was Rat City’s first time starting a track via Zoom, something that became a necessity for many writers over the last 18 months, and they describe the process as “unique, and surprisingly a lot of fun!”.

Venice, California based female singer-songwriter Monica Aben believes passionately in the power of stories, as can be clearly heard on her new single CPH – a tale of female empowerment and staying connected to your inner self whilst building a life on the other side of world in Copenhagen. CPH is the first single from her upcoming EP Postcards – a body of work inspired by a period of enlightenment in the artist’s personal journey of self-discovery.

The story of CPH kicks off with feelings of anxiety and self-doubt, before throwing off the past and discovering her own self, trusted female companions and the vibrancy of the beautiful city in which she’s living.

CPH’s seductive arrangement was put together by multi-instrumentalist and producer Justin Glasco, who Monica trusts implicitly, and it showcases her silky smooth vocals perfectly. For mixing, it was over to Grammy winner Ryan Gilligan (Kanye West & Puerto Rican duo Calle 13) with the record’s final touches being down to female mastering engineer Jett Galindo, who’s worked on a wide range of projects and artists including the La La Land OST, Weezer, plus Lo-Fi Soul artist Hayley Reinhart.

Monica says of the release “CPH is about the trip that tied up my adolescence with a bow and launched me into womanhood. It’s an ode to the ending of what felt like the first chapter in my life”. When I play it now, I can still feel the freedom in its lines from the day I wrote it alone in that little Danish apartment”.

The Spanish musician and producer Club Mango today shares his debut track ‘One You Need’. It’s an international affair which features the Dominican / Venezuelan rapper Vadi alongside British / Nigerian singer-songwriter JAEL.

Opening with Spanish guitar, ‘One You Need’ quickly blossoms into a radiant cocktail of summer sun melodies, infectious island vibes and Latin American percussion. JAEL’s topline only swells that uplifting atmosphere, her voice brimming with sweet soul, while Vadi’s reggaeton rap further fuels the fiery atmosphere.

“This song really came out of nowhere,” says Club Mango. “We were jamming in the living room on the guitar after a few tequilas and then it kind of just grew from there. The track was done but we felt that getting some more Latin flavour in there could take it to the next level. So we hit up Vadi to see if he could feature on it and luckily he was up for it.”

Vadi added, “Working on this song has been a great experience. I’ve always wanted to collaborate with an English speaking artist. I connected so well with the vibe of the song that I found the inspiration for the lyrics straight away, and in less than half an hour I had them written and recorded.”

‘One You Need’ was then completed with mixing courtesy of Rob Chiarelli. A multiple Grammy Award winner, Chiarelli’s talents have graced tracks from iconic artists including Quincy Jones, Christina Aguilera and Will Smith.

Latin music pioneer Nicky Jam releases a new musical collaboration with the “master” of the Dominican dembow El Alfa. Together, both Latin-music superstars give life to “Pikete“, a song that promises to become the new summer anthem and is now available on all digital platforms.

“Pikete” tells the story of a woman who seems unattainable because of her beauty and attitude.

It is not the first time that Nicky Jam and El Alfa do “magic” in the studio. Songs such as “Nadie como tú” “Segueta remix” and “A correr los Lakers“ have united them at a professional level, however, the last interview that Nicky Jam made with El Alfa, through his own talk show “The Rockstar Show.”

Making her debut just last summer, electro-pop artist Gwyn Love returns, teaming up with Canadian producer/artist La+ch for her electric new release “Shit I Like,” available for streaming today via 604 Records. Known for blending a punk mentality with an electro-pop vibe, the new release maintain’s Gwyn’s infectious attitude while turning up the voltage on her electronic, danceable atmosphere.

While the track drips in confidence, “Shit I Like” was born out of a moment of anxiety and self doubt that Gwyn Love converted into an empowering anthem to lift others out of the fog. “I really needed this song when I wrote it,” she says. “We all have to be reminded sometimes that it’s okay to take a break from everything and just do shit that you enjoy and makes you feel in tune with yourself.” she says.

Continues to say: “I was in Vancouver, my first time out of the United States, all by myself, recording music. I felt extremely stressed because I didn’t feel I was performing as I knew I could in the session that day. I went to my airbnb and sat on the couch and started thinking of things I could do to relax and take some of the pressure off so I would feel more like myself and perform better the next day. It’s a reminder to me that no matter how stressed I get, there are skills I have learned that help me not go overboard with stressing. It’s okay to sit back and let yourself unwind every so often, it’s actually very much needed. My boi La+ch’s production on this song really brought it all together and made it the “dance in your room by yourself” song that I really wanted it to be.”
