Stockholm-based DJ Caroline Roxy uplifts house music with her anthemic vocals. She returns to release her fourth single, “High on Love.” Nebular synths, the incendiary kick and snare and bright vocals explode into jubilation.
Roxy teamed up with Discrete and Chris Collins in the studio last month. The three wrote and Discrete, whose own artist project boasts a quarter million monthly listeners, also contributed to the production; they soon emerged with this dance track. Together, they revisit a bygone era; hyper-rhythmic instrumentation imitates the summer anthems played along the Riviera beaches during the 90s.
On the “High on Love” songwriting process, Roxy explains: “Discrete, Collins and I wanted to write a song that contrasted with the current musical landscape. Chords led to a fuller production, which in turn inspired the melody and upbeat lyric. Musings on that untainted kind of love left us with a finished track within a day.”
