Joe Hawes has previously had releases on labels such as Hungry Koala Records and Coffee House Records and has supported the likes of Calvin Harris and Deadmau5 in his career as a DJ along with playing sets at prestigious venues such as Amnesia and Ibiza Cream. Inspired by the likes of Don Diablo and Martin Garrix, Joe lives and breathes Future House. His latest release ‘Tissues’ is a little different to his usual releases but has already caught the attention of UK top radios stations. We caught up with Joe to discuss the release more.
What inspired you to create ‘Tissues?
At the time of writing this I was actually going through a breakup, and I came across this vocal, and after I heard the lyrics I felt it was perfect timing to use them as I could relate to them a lot.
Did the creative ideas come to you straight away or did this track take a bit of trial and error?
This one they just came to me on this occasion, I think it took just over 4 hours to get the main skeleton of the track laid out!
How would you describe ‘Tissues’ to someone who hasn’t heard it yet?
It’s 100% a summer banger! Although the lyrics are not exactly happy lyrics, the track its self I feel puts you in a great mood! It really does have a great summertime feel to it with a big drop!
What would you say is your favourite element of the track?
This is hard I love vocals but then again, I love the Marimba at the start, to me that’s what makes it a summer tune! But the vocals are great to sing along too! So I guess it’s a bit of both!
Who are you hoping to gain support from for ‘Tissues’?
With all this COVID-19 going on obviously means getting support is going to be harder than usual due to clubs being closed. However it does lead radio shows open wide for support! As this is a bit more “poppy” than my usual stuff my usual target radio shows would be a bit too different. So for me I would love some commercial radio shows to support this, I think RTE in Ireland have already played this and it got a spin on Kiss FM in the UK too!
How has the reaction to the track been so far?
Amazing! Everyone who has heard this has said to me it makes them feel great and makes them so excited for the summer (Lockdown or not!)
What would you like to achieve with ‘Tissues’?
I’d like to bring some people to my music that wouldn’t have normally found me. As it is a bit different to my usual and future stuff! Also I want people to feel good, its tough times out there at the moment and when people message me saying this track is getting them in a good mood, that’s all I can ask for!
Do you see your style developing over the next coming months, if so where?
Iv actually got quite a few tracks in the pipeline which are quite different to this, but they have a similar sound which I’ve found and loving at the moment, and would all easily fit in the Future House genre still, but these are a lot more credible!
Are you looking to get involved with any collaborations soon?
I would love to collab! If anyone reading this would be interested please DM me! We all have a lot more time on our hands at the moment so lets make the most of it!
Finally, where can people go to download their copy of ‘Tissues’?
Tissues can be found in pretty much any store online, if you want the Extended mix head over to Beatport, if you want to stream it, get yourself on Spotify or Apple music!
