Ken Bauer is an artist who’s creativity and musical talent comes naturally to him and began his career with a release that took over the charts in Sweden. He has also seen releases on labels such as Spinnup grab the attention of the industry and his latest track ‘Making’ is certainly no different. We sat down with Ken to find out more about ‘Making’!
First of all, how are you keeping in this crazy world we’re living in?
Fortunately, safe and sound. Even though staying in my house is starting to get on my nerves!
Talk us through the inspiration of ‘Making’?
I actually stumbled upon this acapella that has been laying on my hard drive for 7(!) years. I then tried a mellow and haunting pad sound and got a really good feeling coming up with the intro in just a few minutes. Then it was all about creating a nice build-up followed by the drop which I just love myself.
What goals have you set for this track?
No specific goals other than I try to make great music that people will be able to enjoy listening on radio or Spotify. This track is a bit softer than my usual releases because I kept in mind that people are not able to go the clubs in these crazy times.
Do you have a favourite part/section?
It has to be the drop. I just love the background analogue bass stab together with the saw lead.
Who would you like to see support ‘Making’?
‘Making’ already has great support as well as been picked up by Nicky Romero, Sander van Doorn, Sharapov, WaWa, Lost Frequencies, No Hopes, Galoski, Don Diablo, Sick Individuals, Niki Belucci, Amero, Henri PFR & Sophie Francis.
How has the initial reaction been like?
Well judging from the list above quite good. Since it has just been out for a couple of days on Spotify, I am still waiting for it to be picked up by Release Radar and other Curators.
Did you struggle with anything creatively whilst making this track?
Well, normally I always struggle. But this track came pretty easy. Probably because I am adapting a minimal approach in my current tracks. Basically, I am following the “less is more” practice at the moment and it is turning out great. I have a few tracks lined up for release on major labels in the next couple of months.
How would you sum up ‘Making’ in 3 words?
Chill, mellow, powerful.
How will you be keeping busy during lockdown?
Producing music. Even though I wish the current crisis to end as soon as possible. I am using all this extra time to produce music.
Finally, where can people go to grab their copy?
