Interview with Lenell Brown

Lenell Brown is known across the industry for his silky vocals, catchy lyrics and stunning creative talents, his latest release ‘One Day’ has garnered some major attention since its release in January and has recently welcomed a brand new remix from the dance music duo Young Saints that has also taken the scene by storm so we caught up with Lenell for some behind the scenes exlusive.

Tell us a bit about the inspiration behind ‘One Day’?
I had a lot of inspiration from different life experiences. The love you met and were too afraid to follow up with because of previous bad experiences; The relationship that you didn’t invest enough time in only to see it fail and then realize if I could only turn back the hands of time, just give me one more chance to prove to you, give me that second chance at True Love, or whatever the situation was.
One more chance at deciding to take that job you turned down; one more chance to realize that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence. I think we have all been there at some point in our lives and I guess the positive vibes come from the fact that even though we can’t turn back the hands of time, the joy comes from being able to experience what we had and what we did, regardless of the situation. Hopefully by experiencing it, you are now a better person and possibly a few good memories to look back on.

How would you describe the track to someone who hasn’t heard it before?
I guess I would describe it as a track you can vibe to under the sun by the pool or seaside on a nice summer day as you sip on a cold drink and think back on a special memory that puts a smile on your face. A viby track to put on full blast while you’re driving down the highway with your window open and just before the track ends you click repeat.

How does this compare to some of your other releases?
It was a special track from the beginning before it even was released. I had DJs contacting me for remix possibilities, so I had a really good feeling about it.
It was a really strong release and a great way to kick the 2020 year off with. The track has been in the Top 20 music charts and rotating heavily on Ràdio Ona on 107.4 FM in Torelló Spain for the past 2 months.

Tell us more about the music video for ‘One Day’?
The music video shoot was incredible. Shot on location in the beautiful Tuscany region of Italy. I’m a big fan of Italy so I LOVED IT!!! Beautiful colours, smells, wine and people. Pure uncomplicated romance of the Italian culture. AMAZING!

How has the initial reaction been?
The initial reaction of the single release and video has been more than overwhelming. During the video shoot we were very lucky because the weather was PERFECT. I had an amazing video team. Producer and director David Montenegro of “Blackmont Audio-visual” located in Barcelona, Spain, did an amazing job. We have some amazing shots. I worked with them previously on the “All I Need Is You“ video shot on location in Switzerland.

What are your aims for this track?
My aim is for it continuously be present in the charts and gain momentum as summer approaches. In these hard times as the world deals with the Covid -19 virus and the majority of countries are on lockdown, we need good vibing music to escape into and just lighten the load a bit from our minds.

What is your favourite part/lyrics of the track and why?
The part where I sing “Oh one day when we meet again, gonna take that chance and prove to you”. I like these lyrics because it inspires hope. I mean, have you ever been in a store and you causally meet a stranger? There’s a brief connection but you don’t follow up. You keep it moving and even though the encounter was for a brief second … IT FELT GOOD: it even made you smile and feel warm on the inside. Maybe you even turn to go back but the person is gone. You look around for a minute or two but no luck, and still you’re smiling. Every time you go to this store you can’t help but wonder, is today the day? “Oh, One Day when we meet again “

Were there any difficulties to overcome with this release?
Not really, besides the fact that I was so excited for it to be released. Waiting to receive the release date was a bit of a challenge and then waiting for the track to actually be released…

What plans do you and Clipper’s Sounds have for this year?
You know what? Clipper’s Sounds is amazing. My A&R takes real good care of me and we have 6 releases already lined up, so things keep moving as well as some incredible feature productions. So I’m just going to enjoy the ride, work hard on some new collaborations and videos and see where the road leads me.
